As a touring DJ, Justin Paul has appeared in hundreds of clubs, concerts, festivals and parties between both coasts and around the world. In addition, he has played alongside the likes of Bassnectar, Crystal Method, Deadmau5, Disco Biscuits, King Britt, MSTRKRFT, Prodigy, Spongle, Thievery Corporation, Younger Brother, ZERO 7 and more. Other notable performances include DJ TIMES America’s Best DJ Tour (Philly) 2007, MTV Rock the Vote Party (Philly), SXSW Festival 2008 (official performer) and New Years Eve with VJ Jon 9 at the former Guggenheim Soho Museum (New York).

One of the East Coast’s true found musical treasures with a career that has spanned 20 years and counting, Justin Paul (JP) is a diamond in the rough. He embodies the word “entrepreneur” in every sense. Not only is he the founder and CEO of Playloop Records, he’s an acclaimed DJ, producer, remixer, video director/producer and devout music historian.

JP’s early obsession with music led him to become a vinyl junkie by age 7 buying as many records as he could possibly get his hands on. At age 13 he started carrying records and gear for his cousin’s DJ gigs. Excited about the possibilities and enthralled with the techno & house sounds his cousin was playing out of his decks, JP started opening for his cousin. By college, his DJ career had catapulted rightfully in place. He was fully immersed in the East Coast electronic music scene hosting a mixed show, promoting events and parties and DJ’ing five to seven club gigs a week.

JP’s passage into the next level with writing and producing original tracks began in 2005 by way of the deep tech-house track, “Red Shift.” It’s not a coincidence this track is a lucky first release. It not only put Justin on the electronic music production map, but the infamous Carl Cox featured it on his radio show, Global Sessions BBC. “Red Shift” has also been featured and played by many other DJs around the world. The tracks that followed were pivotal in establishing Justin’s intrepid approach to music whether he’s reviewing new artists for Playloop, preparing a DJ set, or concocting a new compilation CD.

As a touring DJ, Paul has appeared in hundreds of clubs, festivals and parties between both coasts and around the world. In addition, he has played alongside the likes of Bassnectar, Crystal Method, Deadmau5, Disco Biscuits, King Britt, MSTRKRFT, Prodigy, Thievery Corporation and ZERO 7. He hit the festival circuit with DJ performances at Burningman Festival (three years consecutively), SXSW, Transformus and the 2008 installment of Camp Bisco. JP was also featured alongside King Britt as part of the DJ Times-sponsored “America’s Best DJ” contest.

JP’s career transformed again in 2006 when he founded Playloop Records. One of the East Coast’s most groundbreaking, eclectic labels with an amazing music menu of artists such as: Dave Hughes, DJ Everyday, Kezner, Lee Mayjahs?, Microstar, Ross D and The Model. Playloop is JP’s dream and vehicle in which he extends his love for music out to the universe. With Playloop, he’s dedicated to crashing global concerts, events, festivals and parties with his sounds from the East Coast — heavy baselines of deep house, techno, house, electro and tech-house.

However, diversity is at the heart of why the Playloop label brand has been a huge success among a crowded scene. In 2006, they released their debut label compilation called “Playloop Presents.” Get Into The Loop Vol. 1.” The compilation/mixed album release was favorably reviewed in several top electronic dance music magazines including BigShot, DJ Times, Remix and URB.

The sequel compilation on the near horizon is Playloop’s next installment of “Playloop Presents Get into the Loop Vol. 2.” This will feature unreleased and released Playloop music in an unmixed and mixed format. As the curator of the Playloop museum, Justin is gifting the universe with more of his assorted style with a sampling of current selections from his label. “GITLV2” will feature: Dave Hughes, Microstar, Locality, The Model, Ross D and JP’s original tracks and remixes.

JP aspires to evolve creatively with his DJ sets and productions while educating and strengthening the dance music scene. His goals and dreams are aligned with the universe with an unmatched hunger to conquer greatness. Justin Paul delivers the unexpected and has no intention of slowing down.
